Mikhail Epov – Full Member of RAS, Doctor of Sciences in Engineering, Professor, a distinguished expert in the theory of subsurface electromagnetic wave propagation. He has founded an internationally recognized school of thought in electrical and electromagnetic resistivity surveys for oil and gas exploration and guided the creation of well logging systems which have no world analogues. The research results and discoveries by M.I. Epov have been widely applied to petroleum exploration and development geophysics. His papers on the methods of studying electrically anisotropic formations made the basis for a large international project (with the USA and the Netherlands) on design and application the 3D eXplorer multi-component induction logging services. Mikhail Epov has served as Vice- Chairman in the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2008, and associate academic secretary at the RAS Department of Geosciences. Over this period, he has proven a good facilitator in introducing innovative research projects within SB RAS institutions and in strenghtening their impact on regional development. His achievements in international collaboration with many universities and research institutes and individual scholars have also contributed greatly to the advancement of geosciences. He is affiliated with the Global Energy Foundation. M.I. Epov is the holder of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 2nd class.
